Each row is defined by a Record Type for every new-line and each column is separated from other columns by a column delimiter character, such as a comma, pipe or the tab character.
The delimited sample shown below uses a comma (‘,’) character as a column delimiter and each Record is defined by a Record Type, in this case REC1 and REC2. Each column names in the header row corresponds to the columns for each record.
